Training & Volunteer Engagement Director
Eric Busse joined Scouts for Equality in 2016 as Director of Training and Volunteer Engagement. He became an Eagle Scout in 2009 as a member of the Bay Lakes Council, and subsequently earned his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse.
Eric is currently a dual-degree Master of Divinity candidate at Harvard Divinity School and Master of Bioethics candidate at Harvard Medical School. He serves as a commissioned officer in the US Navy Reserve as a Buddhist Chaplain Candidate, is a Fellow of the Harvard Graduate School Leadership Institute, a member of the Harvard Board of Freshman Advisers, and a student in the Zen Peacemaker Order. His current studies explore the realms of clinical ethics, chaplaincy, moral injury/resilience, contemplative studies and end-of-life care.
Eric earned the Triple Crown of National High Adventure Award in 2009 and served as the Director of Closing Campfire at Philmont Scout Ranch for the 2013 summer season. As an LGBTIQ identified Eagle Scout, Eric is passionate about collaborating with SFE in pursuit of a Scouting movement that is engaged, wholly rooted in equality, and free of all forms of discrimination.
